Basketball Coaches Training

Special Olympics Texas - Central Texas Area will host a Basketball Coaches Training on December 3, 2011. If you are over the age of 15 and interested in sharing your talents with an athlete with intellectual disabilities, then we are looking for you! There is no cost to be trained and no experience is necessary.
The Basketball Coaches Training registration deadline is November 18 by 12:00 p.m.
There are 2 parts to Coaches Training. Please choose your registration ticket accordingly.
1.) The theory part teaches you about the SOTX Information Guide (SIG) and is only taken once and is required for NEW coaches
2.) The clinical part teaches you about the specific sport and is taken whenever someone wants to become certified to coach that sport.
A practicum of 10 hours is required after the coaches training in order for certification to be complete.
We would love the opportunity to teach you how to work with the athletes of Special Olympics Texas. If you have not attended or taken online the General Orientation and/or the Protective Behaviors in the past, please do so online.

The mission of Special Olympics Texas is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
